Abstract
Pada tahun 1933 di zaman penjajahan Belanda,
Bantaeng dibcntuk menjadi satu Afdcling
(bagian) dcngan membawahi 4 (cmpat)
ondcrafdclingyang bcrkcdudukan di Bantaeng,
sedang khusus pemerintahan kcrajaan dijadikan
suatu distrik dknana Bantaeng tcngah (Kecamatan
Bantaeng) termasuk di dalamnya Bantaeng
yang berstalus kcrajaan yang diperintan oich
seorang raja (Karaeng) yang melaksanakan
pemerintahannya dibantu oleh adat 12 (duabelas).

Pada tahun 1945 - 1950 zaman Rcvolusi,
Bantaeng dijadikan basts bagi para gcrilyawan
pejuang kemerdekaan, karena tempatnya strategis
dalam rangka penyusunan taktikdan strategi
perjuangan melawan kaum penjajah Bclanda.
