Abstract
Penelitian berupaya mengungkap struktur morfologi dari masjid Wapauwe di desa Keitetu yang merupakan
salah satu saksi sejarah.Masjid ini telah ada jauh sebelum masuknya Belanda.Penelitian ini merupakan
penelitian deskriptif eksploratif, yaitu penelitian kualitatifyang dilakukan dengan memberikan gambaran
tentang data arkeologi mesjid kuno yang ditemukan serta memberikan penjelasan tentang fenomena
tersebut. Data diperoleh dengan metode wawancara dan observasi langsung terhadap objek penelitian.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Masjid Tua Wapaue bercorak tradisional menggunakan model
piramida terpancung pada atapnya yang terbuat dari rumbia, konstruksi bangunan induknya dirancang
tanpa memakai paku atau pasak kayu pada setiap sambungan, hanya diperkuat dengan ikatan dari tali
penunjang kekokohannya.
