Abstract
Kapan agama Islam masuk dan berkembang di Bima belum dapat ditentukan secara pasti, namun dari
berbagai informasi dalam historigrafi tradisional sumber asing bahwa islamisasi berlangsung secara damai
melalui kontak dagang, dakwah dan perkawinan,maupun dengan kekuatan senjata atau peperangan.
Bima muncul dan berkembang sebagai pusat kekuasan Islam sekitar abad ke-17, ketika raja Bimayang ke-
15 memeluk agama Islam yaitu Sultan Abdul Kahir. Sebagai pusat kekuasaan Islam, Bima kemudian tumbuh
dan berkembang, mencapai puncak kejayaan pada masa pemerintahan Sultan Abdul Khair Sirajuddin dan
Sultan Nurudin. Ketika itu datang atau didatangkan ulama-ulama dari berbagai pelosok Nusantara untuk
menyebarkan dan mengajarkan agama Islam kepada masyarakat Bima.
